ok. I will admit it. I have bright purple walls in my home and I hate them. What is that?? NO it was not my choice, they were like that when we moved in! gosh. But still. I have to live with them. Because it is a rental property and I don't know about you but I can't be effffed spending the time persuading the landlord, or money on getting them painted. Although, maybe a little investment now will save me on medical bills down the track when I go INSANE due to crazy living conditions.
Maybe it has been a good thing. Because I have learnt what I like, and what I don’t. I have learnt that I love, crave and need a neutral palette as a base, and from there, I can inject small shots of colour. I certainly don’t need overdose on ridiculously permanent hits of colour on walls that prevent anything else from having the slightest chance of looking good.
Oh, and we have two black leather couches. I know they are “good quality” and I shouldn’t be mean because they are my boyfriends and he loves them. Which is fine. But just picture heavy black couches WITH super dark/bright purple walls. That and the fact there is little to no natural light in the place… yeah. If you need me I will be rocking back and forth in the corner.

one. IKO IKO is my new dream shop. hold on while I go set my teleporter to "los angeles"
two. that vintage record player that I mentioned in that last post? yeah, that is it right there in their shop. well not mine actual one. but the same one. I totally need to find a way to display that at home without my boyfriend thinking it is rubbish and throwing it out.

just. look. at. what. the most amazing friend got me. that is right. a Cinderella record to go with my gorgeous Caitlin Shearer original painting from the Once Upon exhibition. it is just so special, the colours are perfect, and strangely match Caitlin's painting. Both the vinyls are there (I am yet to test them on my mini 45 record player, but I will) and, AND there is a mini story book included in the cover. so perfect. the only problem is finding the most specialist place to put them. I keep moving them all over the place. I think it has to be the bedroom, but where! I am so thrilled to own a Caitlin Shearer original too. When we opened up her amazing paintings for the show, I just knew I had to have this one.
Do you like my pretty photos? I took them with the shinny new camera.

I think Australian's are finally starting to make their mark in the ol' blogging world. Here is a small handful of my favourite Aussie blogs. I think it really helps to keep things local with blog reading sometimes, because that way, if you see something you want to buy, it is not always so far out of reach.
ben zen :: erin art :: cake with giants :: draw! pilgrim :: ish and chi ::
made by maddy :: leeloo dog blog :: pia jane bijkerk :: the design files :: tiny happy ::
the happy home :: truth.be.told :: +handmade love+ :: reJenerate :: forth thread ::
Daydream Lily :: The Scribble Project :: the unbearable lightness of being hungry :: meet me at mikes :: hello sandwich ::
p.s. if you have an "aussie" blog and you are not here, maybe I haven't seen your blog before, so let me know about it! also, this is only a small handful. I might do another post like this soon, because I just love so so many. xoxo

So you can imagine how excited I was when I saw the Camilla Engman book for sale. I don't think I have ever clicked "add to cart" quick enough. Fingers crossed it arrives soon.

check out this gorgeous image from the Design*Sponge website. I know they say those vases on the left are from here, but does anyone know if anybody local (Australia) makes them?

[images from the Imperial Russian Ballet website]
oooo, I went on a little date with a sweet friend of mine last night to see Swan Lake by the Imperial Russian Ballet Company at the State Theatre.
It was really beautiful. Really beautiful and it has got me all inspired again to draw the amazing human body in really tiny detail. Maybe when I find a little thing called time. Maybe.
Now, off to research the story line. Wiki here I come!

well, I always thought that the website weheartit was only accessable via invitation only or something like that. however, the other day I just gave in and went on over to suss it all out. because lots and lots of blogs theses days are referencing this website for their images.
well, turns out it is a prettier version of sites like "digg" etc except it is just images. and pretty images too. this excited me very much, because I love looking at pretty images and I like collecting them for our {twin set} blog.
however, I became a little sad when I realised the tangled-web state that the site is in. I always reference the original source for my images, and if I find the image on a blog that references an image I use, then I always include [image VIA here] for example. well, weheartit makes this a little tricky. because even if the orignial source is linked in the "entry" when I click through, it is often just a blogger who has used the image in a pretty post, and they may not have even referenced the actual image source! see my confusion?
so when I see people saying "source :: weheartit" now I start to wonder. because that isn't the true source. the person who took the photo didn't submit it to weheartit, someone else did. so who gets the credit!!
GAH!!!! my other issue, what happens when I want to use an image I found on weheartit in a post. who am I supposed to credit. the original, the "hearter"?
maybe I will just stick with flickr.

fridays I am usually feeling pretty good. I do yoga on Thursday nights, and so I always wake up with a fresh and new outlook on things. things tend to look, feel and smell better. which I think must be a good thing.
this morning during my morning routine, I was reading my most recent purchase :: the latest issue of Inside Out magazine, the CHRISTMAS issue. I have already been secretly planning my christmas decorations, and doing a bit of present shopping, and so I love it when the retail and media world can confirm with me that this is ok, by decorating and publishing gift guides and christmas themed issues.
so today, my fave fab friday find, is going to be pages 15 and 16 from this latest CHRISTMAS 09 issue from Inside Out. as you know, I am a hard core handmade, indie, local, nice things shopper, and I am just loving that these "bigger" mags are jumping on board this "trend" for want of a better word. from what I can tell, they are recommending us gorgeous things, which are mostly handmade, locally made, unique, eco-friendly or just generally pretty special.
I thought I would try and itemise and link to everything on these pages, for my own reference (because I was going to be adding them to my favourites anyway) and of course for your own!
you can click on the image and be taken to my flickr page, from there I have made notes which include links to all the things featured on the page! cool huh! does that make sense? otherwise, I have included the "stockist list" here too.

morning lovelies!
it seems super weird saying this, but that isn't going to stop me. {twin set} has launched. {twin set} is something I have been excited about for months (! WOW time flies) now and you don't understand how excited I am to "reveal".
{twin set} is an online shop (based here in Australia) that sells off beat retro & quirky vintage. It has gorgeous dresses, pretty pictures and I know you are going to love it. In conjunction with the shop, the {twin set} blog also launches today. Be sure to follow this blog for all things pretty, eco-friendly, Australian where possible, vintage and just generally sweet things and finds.
So why all the fuss from me?? Oh right. Because super amazing Angela (Leeloo.com.au) and I, well, it is our business! So much hardwork, laughs, fun and crazy times went into this business, and we are so so super proud to be sharing all the excitement with you today!! Hear more about our story and ideas here.

and plan to make it known to them
but on that day they are involved in a car crash.
they are fine, but shaken up all the same
would you still express those feelings?
how relevant would your pain be?
(originally to be titled: "the best week of my life",
but I thought you might think I was being wanky)

right now I am finding it a little bit hard to focus on anything but being as excited as a hungry child in a lolly shop. a lot of pretty fricking sweet shit is going on. most of this I can't even "reveal" yet. but let me tell you, you will be pretty fricking excited yourself when all is made known.
this week gave me times where I felt like I was the luckiest person alive. times where I was blown away by people's generosity. times where I felt little shivers because of the nicest things people say. times that made me stop and realise that the most important things in life are not things, but just that very simple ability to stop and let be. we all are capable. we just need to let it go.
I was driving home last night and I put the window down, turned the music up real loud, squeezed up my shoulders and smiled.
I was reading frankie this morning and while reading page 11. (Jo, the Editors letter) I got a tear in my eye. what a mushy shit I am. but I seriously did. because it is all happening and I can't wait to tell you all.
oh ok, here is a snippet. the boyfriends
little teaser in the latest issue of Fashion Journal (93) .
he is doing such a super job, and I am very lucky to be sharing it with him
excitemento!
