Anyway, last night I made the trip to my favourite little gallery, with my favourite little art lover friend to see the BEASTMAN, NUMSKULL, PHIBS & YOK exhibition. Despite it being the extreme opposite to the last show held there, and the fact that I was probably totally out of place in a vintage frilly dress with a crowd full of sk8er dudes, it was still totally awesome.
Plus, in typical groupie style, we got to chat with one of the artists, Yok, and I am sure you will agree with me in saying that is work is insanely good. When I see people with such an extensive, comprehensive range of drawings and painting, I feel so lazy and inadequate. But also very inspired.

Less than one month ago the space was filled with fairytales...

and now, insane multi-colour awesomeness.
(with enough fumes to make you drunk, no alcohol required).
Was fun to remiss about our show too. I still can't believe the buzz is still buzzing.
Check out the awesome
lovely wonderful Once Upon recap/debrief
by the gorgeous
sweet amazing Angela.
Have your tissues handy.
Nawww.

friends and readers
not making excuses, but posting is likely to get limited this week.
because the Once Upon exhibition opens on Thursday
which seriously blows me away.
Angela and I have very sore fingers from all the framing
but gosh they look amazing.
make sure you come.
please.
p.s. how fantastic is this blog post from one of the lovely artists Jordan Clarke?
I am stressing about my outfit. All I know for sure is that I will be wearing a vintage handmade lace collar that was my great grandma's that my Nan gave me last week.

well, I have a feeling the Once Upon exhibition is no secret within the online artist community! If you haven't heard about it (and you are Australian) then what are you doing?!?! Rush over to the Once Upon website and check out what all the fuss is about. If you are not Australian, go check it out anyway, because there is lots of pretty loveliness to see, and much much more to come.
as much as I love talking about the show, instead of trying to explain it to you, it is probably best you go and read the wonderful words by Angela, because she does a much better job at explaining than I do. you may, or may not be aware however, that the renee she speaks of is actually me! wow what do you know!
so yes, my partner in crime (Angela) and I have actually teamed up again for the show. organising an exhibition of such size, and one that is shaping up to be quite the event is actually really changeling, in a good way. It is funny though, because my "real world" peeps don't really get just how much work we are doing and how much this actually means to the "online peeps". if I try and talk about some exciting new development (like for example that Frankie are the exhibitions main partner!!!#T^#@#$@!!!$%!) (or actually, the fact that the exhibition is ACTUALLY IN the latest issue of Frankie) I get a look that says "ok, Renee that's great" or "Frankie? who is that?" *pats me on the head and rolls eyes*.
so thank you so so so much for all your enthusiasm, because without it,a lot of artists have been showing sneak peeks, so I guess I better show mine. I have been on a pretty sweet "journey" with these four little works, starting, then starting again, then hating it, then loving it. I think a lot of the artists have found the size and theme specs to be a huge challenge, again in a good way! I think the best/hardest thing for me is that it all makes me a bit confused. I start going down one path with my art, love it, but then change, and I never seem to keep consistent. maybe it is my self diagnosed ADHD or something. who knows. anyway, after I have completed my works for the show I am thinking of setting myself some sort of artistic challenge. maybe something like this. but not has hard core. maybe I need to limit myself to do something over and over until I decide what feels right.
well let's just say it is what motivates us to keep on going!!!
these are feeling good for now. we will see. and you will too when you come along to the OPENING NIGHT OF ONCE UPON!! WOOOPPEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Frick. That is way too much typing for my liking.

it generated some fantastic discussion. and it really got me, and a whole bunch of other people thinking.... so guess what?
a few months ago, I teamed up with the fantastically amazing Angela from Leeloo to make our ideas a reality and start organising an exhibition. After fun times and hard work, we now have Once Upon; an event that will be celebrating Leeloo's 2nd birthday, and ongoing mission to support local artists.
Leeloo is currently seeking talented artists within the Australian community to be apart of the exhibition to be held at aMBUSH gallery in Sydney from 19th November.
The event will feature a sponsored opening night with strong industry support and exposure via our extensive online networks and other media. The Leeloo artists you will be exhibiting alongside are Bec Winnel (My Charlie Girl), Alicia Rosam (Ali J), Tabitha Patterson (Tabitha Emma) and Jessica Hyde (truth.be.told) amongst many others.
Submissions are due by 18th September;
please see the flyer for more details.

Sorry readers of Ashlee's blog, I just had to post about it too! (OF COURSE!)
In less than a month's time, I will be having my first ever semi soloish art exhibition with the amazingly super talented Ashlee Maegan !!! (I think I am entitled the use of 3 exclamation marks for that statement!!! [and again] )
Basically I am super excited, but super franticly getting myself organised for the big event. If you haven't noticed the poster up there (!?), we are working towards a bit of a cosmic theme.
I love the idea of working towards something, especially with a theme, and especially when you have someone else working along with you. I mean, I do love the lonely world and life of the artist, but gosh I need that personal reinforcement. Pooling ideas and sharing thoughts, it is just so motivating.
So kids, its going to be good, and I expect all Sydney residents to be there.

SO sorry if I mislead you!

Some things just need to be shared. One of my earlier days artistic friend Ashlee Maegan has kick started her super blog back up, and as been keeping herself busy with sweet little creations. I can't wait to see what she has been up to. I just love her dedication to large realistic works, and how she pushes them to that next step of coolness with colour and digital elements.
She recently took her creativeness even further and created a sweet looking zine, which she ever so kindly included me in!! Super! I cannot wait to see it. I think there might be still a few left, so enqurie over at Ashlee's blog.
We are actually both keen to get ourselves involved in some (or one!) group shows. I know I am desperate to get some of my drawings out and up there, so if you know of any shows that are calling for submissions in Melbourne or Sydney (or hey, even anywhere in the world! I do postage!), please be in touch because we would love to hear from you!!
